I will readily admit I'm not an expert when it comes to vintage Rolex. It's the most glaring link weak spot in my watch-knowledge arsenal. There's so much nuance to the category, with minuscule link details that are impossibly difficult to keep track of and there are plenty of fakes out there to confuse the issue. link But still, I would have never guessed that the engine that had driven interest in the vintage watch market for so long could ever take a backseat to F.P. Journe and other indies.
