How To Make a Relaxing Foot Soak

One of the most tortured parts of the body are one's feet. They carry and support the entire weight of the body when walking, especially when standing up. Jobs that require you to be on your feet all day are especially tiresome. But thanks to modern trends in health and personal hygiene, feet are getting the pampering and attention that they deserve. A great way to give your feet a break is to get a foot soak. You will need a basin wide and sturdy enough to contain your feet and allow it to be soaked up to your ankles. You will also need about a gallon of hot water to fill the basin up to your ankles, in addition to another gallon of cool water. Be also sure that you can get your hands on small lime stones or marbles, essential oils or tea bags, baking soda, a cup of white vinegar, a cup of Epson salt and some towels. Sit in a comfortable chair and set the basin down in front of you. Put the marbles or small lime stones at the bottom of the basin. They will serve as rollers that will massage your feet as you soak them in later.

Put the Epson salt, baking soda and vinegar in. Epson salt is good for detoxifying your feet, especially after wearing shoes all day or exposing them a lot with open footwear in rough weather. Epson salt has magnesium, which is known for minimizing inflammation in tired, stressed out feet. Baking soda is good for removing foot odors and acts as an antibacterial. The acid found in vinegar is a natural cleanser and sanitizer.

Pour in the hot water to dissolve the Epson salt and baking powder.

After dissolving these, put the teabags or add six drops or more of the essential oils. If you are using teabags, let them steep for a few minutes so you can get more tea out of the teabags. Chamomile, lavender, peppermint, teabags are known for their relaxing properties. If you are using essential oils, you can find one in the variants already mentioned. Lime, Ylang Ylang, and Bergamot are among other variants which also have relaxing properties.

Check the water. Go for the warmest temperature you can stand. If you don't want to wait for it to cool, add cool water till you get the optimal temperature for you.

Now for the fun part. Soak those tired feet in your very own homemade foot soak! Roll the marbles or lime stones underneath your feet to massage them and help blood circulation. Soak until the water is cool.

Now that you know how to make a relaxing foot soak right in your own home, you may never want to get an expensive foot soak elsewhere. Experiment with different ingredients to put in your foot soak like rose petals, honey (which is known for its moisturizing properties), tea tree oil or even dried peppermint leaves and enjoy.
