Just seeing someone smoke can trigger smokers to ditch efforts to quit? Brain scans taken during normal smoking activity and 24 hours after quitting illustrate a surge in a certain kind of brain activity when quitters see photos of people smoking, LiveSciene reported. The activity occurs in the dorsal striatum, which controls automatic responses, suggesting that quitting smoking may be out of a person's conscious control.
