Extensive Chongqing Travel on Three Gorges Museum

The Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum China travel is located near the People’s Hall in Chongqing. It is the biggest monographic museum, which was opened in the year 2005. This is freshly constructed museum that has a total area of nearly forty thousand square meters. This spot is near to People’s square as well as great hall of people in China. The Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum is also known by the name Chongqing Museum. There are lot many displays of art as well as artifacts related to China in this museum. These artistic elements were saved for several years from the three gorges dams as well as artificial lake. They emphasizes on three gorges area, three gorges dams, history of China, history of Chongqing and neighboring area, and olden times of Chinese people.

Originally called the Chongqing Municipal Museum, this museum moved to its more modern and spacious location mid 2005 along Yangtze river cruise. While still lacking a certain charisma, several items in this museum make the trip worthwhile. First is its lovely collection of Tang and Song heads carved out of stone. Most are of Buddha, Guanyin, and various bodhisattvas, but what distinguishes them are their human rather than heavenly miens. A fine collection of terra-cotta sculptures from an Eastern Han tomb is also on the display. Discovered in Chongqing north of the Yangzi, they are small, whimsical figurines of musicians, dancers, singers, and storytellers -- a lively group to spend eternity with. The museum also boasts collections that go back in time as far as the Shang dynasty (ca. 1600-1045 B.C.). Of particular interest are the paulownia-wood "boat coffins" of the ancient Ba culture.

Leaving the valued items and articles aside, the building itself forms a striking sight, which deserves appreciating on China tour packages. The building in a whole takes on an arc form of a traditional dam. The sandstone walls represent mountains and the huge blue veil wall represents water, which fully reveal the features of Chongqing - a city with mountains and water. The Chinese name of the museum is stamped in the upper right-hand corner, which is not usually seen in other places. The exterior of the museum has cambered walls and vitreous dome, representing the historical culture of Three Gorges project and its origins. In addition, there are large-scale reliefs, bronze sculptures and an 'Ecological Corridor' that is one kilometer in length (about 1,094 yards).
