Hurricanes forward Kris Versteeg, joining Kings

http://www.officialhurricanesshop.com/authentic-27-justin-faulk-jer... The Los Angeles Kings have acquired right wing Kris Versteeg from the Carolina Hurricanes for prospect Valentin Zykov and a conditional fifth-round draft pick.

The deal was announced during the Kings' 4-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night.

"I think he gives us some depth and the ability to finish and play all positions for us," Kings coach Darryl Sutter said after the Kings' loss.

Pekka Rinne Youth Jersey Versteeg, who has scored 127 goals in nine NHL seasons, played on two Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup-winning teams in 2010 and 2015.

In order to make space for Versteeg, the Kings moved Marian Gaborik to long-term injured reserve.

He had 11 goals and 22 assists in 63 games for the Hurricanes this season. His best season was 2011-12, when he had 23 goals and 31 assists for the Florida Panthers.

This is the seventh time Versteeg, 29, has been traded in his NHL career. That includes the deal that sent him from Chicago to Carolina five months ago.

Gary Carter Authentic Jersey Zykov, 20, is a right wing and was drafted in the second round, 37th overall, by the Kings in 2013. He has been playing with the Kings' Ontario Reign of the AHL.
