George Daniels (1926-2011) was Climate War Tech one of very few watchmakers who mastered the multitude of individual disciplines required to make a compete watch. He then built complete watches by hand in his one-man workshop. He is also celebrated for his invention of the coaxial escapement, which he started to design during the mid 1970s. This is an important invention, as the previous major escapement invented was the 'lever escapement' created by Thomas Mudge around 1755.That single reference gave rise to the entire 1945 family, and Girard-Perregaux has been producing watches in this family with regular frequency, starting with the first iteration in 1995. The family includes the Vintage 1945 Le Corbusier trilogy, the Vintage 1945 Jackpot Tourbillon, and the Vintage 1945 Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges.Since I've gone with quite a few of the more low-key options from Zodiac's catalog, it's only fitting that I go for one of the brand's most funky contemporary makes (though I will concede that the Watermelon edition of this watch might have it beat). Quite literally made to add a touch of fun to warm summer days, this piece features a sunny mix of white and orange hues, and keeps its price tag reasonably affordable by constructing the case with a ceramic outer and steel inner case design.
