The Nautilo Automatic manages to feel both vintage and modern at the same time. While Panerai is using a similar case, its watches distinctly seem to hearken back to a sepia-toned past, whereas Anonimo comes off a bit more sleek and fresh. This might be due to the incorporation of a clever crown guard that slices down along the right flank, to protect the rather slim crown at four o'clock. Following last year's release of the 62MAS re-issue SLA017, Seiko has announced a new re-issue diver based on a model they produced in the late 1960s. Called, in full, the 1968 Automatic Diver’s Re-creation Limited Edition: SLA025, I think we can just call it the SLA025 for short. The main story here is Seiko's use of a monoblock steel case and their 8L55 hi-beat movement to reinterpret the orginal.As I am forever on the lookout for nicely made, preferably non-retro, and certainly budget-minded sports watches, I received more than a couple of Instagram DMs pointing me to the new Sea Ranger from Chicago-based Astor & Banks. A design this simple must be easy to create, right? Wrong. With this level of simplicity, every little thing matters more and any errors or imbalances will shine through immediately. But, just as I was going to call it, the most fun detail of this watch revealed itself to me: a press of the backlight illuminator reveals Hello Kitty's eyes, whiskers, and nose in LED, subsequently turning the entirety of the watch dial into the characters face, and even wearing that red bow I've mentioned about four times already. Now, that's a touch that amplifies my whimsy meter off the charts.
