Tour on Beijing Southeast Gong and Drum Lane

Nanluoguxiang Alley is a hidden treasure, located in Downtown Beijing, Dongcheng District during Tours to China. It is not only famous for hutong and courtyards (siheyuan) but also now famed for the cafes and bars, clothing and handcraft shops that line alongside hutong laneways. Regarded as "another bar area besides Houhai, Workers' Stadium and Sanlitun", Nanluoguxiang Alley is a perfect blend of past and present. The central lane is 768 meters long from south to north, with 16 Hutong meandering east and west, giving each side eight Hutongs. It is a typical Hutong layout of the Yuan Dynasty, with a history of more than 700 years.

The Bar Street of the Southern Gong and Drum Lane has distinctive features for Beijing tour. The bars have traditional decorations. The bars here aren’t generally noisy or rough. It is a hangout for young people. Many bars have WiFi internet service. Famous and wealthy Manchu families used to live there. The Manchus were the people who ruled the Qing Empire (1644-1911). The lane is now about 786 meters or about half a mile long and about 8 meters or 9 yards wide. It was an area for wealthy families even during the Ming Empire period (1368-1644). In the early 20th century, Nationalist political leaders, artists and literary figures used to live there.

Meals and snacks in this old lane are something else that will appeal to its visitors on Top China travel Destinations. The well–known dining hall at No. 108 in it is famous for its tasty pizza and Nepal-style drinks. Wenyu Nai Lao is a time-honored specialty yoghurt shop located at No.49 in it. The shop makes many different types of the best yoghurts. At No.114, the western restaurant Yu Shi Ju Jin provides delicacies of Russian, Italian and Indian styles. Apart from these restaurants, there are many distinctive bars that are worth a visit, such as Plastered 8 and Guo Ke (meaning Passerby) that are very popular among travelers. Walking on the tree-lined road along, experiencing the diverse culture, you will receive more than you expect. It is a feast for your eyes, stomach, and mind at the same time.
