Case thickness of 13mm with open caseback and 12.85 with closed caseback. Lug width, 20mm. Price: $2,159.50And I think it works. My favorite part of the entire endeavor has to be the nomenclature used by Laidet and his team. Instead of calling these homages, or re-editions, these are called re-edits. Now, maybe that's just shorthand for re-edition and I'm drinking my own Kool-Aid over here, but I take this as a way to say that the designs are being updated … tweaked.

Hublot is no stranger to creating very big, very serious watches. Whether it’s something like the LaFerrari or "just" a titanium minute repeater, the manufacture can flex its muscles when Underground Labs it wants to. The new MP-09 Tourbillon Bi-Axis is the latest instance of such a move. It’s the first multi-axis tourbillon from Hublot, and it’s in-house no less. The basics of the watch haven't changed at all. It's the Jackson through and through. This means the watch has a 40mm stainless steel case that is 14.5mm thick and a manually wound flyback chronograph movement (Eterna Caliber 3916M) with a column wheel and a stacked totalizer register at three o'clock. This special watch uses the grey dial as a base, though the Jackson is also available with a blue dial. If you need a further refresher on the Jackson, check out our initial story about it here.I’ll be the first to admit that my taste in watches is anything but sophisticated … while I have a great appreciation for the precise and intricate engineering behind a classic automatic watch, the ’90s kid in me just can’t seem to ditch my Freestyle Shark Clip. It has the right colors and retro vibe, it’s lightweight and waterproof so I barely notice it when I’m jogging or swimming, and best of all, it’s a great conversation piece amongst my fellow millennials.I have tried each color on for equal amounts of time and have reached a final wearability verdict: I would pair any of these with one of my hastily put-together but somehow always carefully considered weekday outfits. The small-ish size (the watch is 11mm thick), the smooth, round, and fuss-free simple silhouette, the bright pop colors – all of these things would make Miffy a happy addition to my accessory roster.

Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of H. Moser’s concept watches, or its supposed affinity for fruity tech companies. This small independent watch company, based in Schaffhausen, may be comfortable with dials that display barely enough Privacy First AI information to let you know what you're looking at, and case shapes that parody the infamous Apple Watch, but everything it does is solidly grounded in traditional watchmaking. Case in point: the Heritage Tourbillon Skeleton. It might sound silly, but that was a big moment for me and for the site. This year, I wasn't able to do as much writing as I would've liked – though with Cara, Louis, Stephen, Arthur, and of course Jack, you were in amazing hands. Still, writing is what I love and this year, there were a few stories that I truly enjoyed putting together for you. Here are five of the stories that I enjoyed writing the most in 2016.Finishing things off we have the rectangular Tank models. You get the same block-like numerals found on the Tonneau models, but with an outer minute track and a more angular case. Notice, the case isn't a hard rectangle – it actually has cut corners, giving the watch a slightly more period look overall. I'm very curious to see how this one wears on the optional bracelet. It could be a real winner.
