Wonderful Tibet Travel Including Samye Monastery

Also called the Three Styled Temple and the centre of attraction for the Buddhists all around the world, Samye monastery is situated in the Shannan Region, to the north of the Tsangpo River for China travel. Comprising with three Buddhist idols, Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, this monasteries attracts a huge number of tourist every year not only for this religious value but also for its superbly beautiful construction. Tibetan king Trisong Detsen started the construction of this monastery back in 779 AD. After some time, the construction of the monastery was handed over to the famous Buddhist master Padmasambhava. At the opening of the monastery the King permitted the seven Descendents of blue blood to stay and cultivate in the monastery, who later became famous as “Seven Enlightened Disciples of Samye”. Now the monastery has become the national of china and is under the care of the government.

A unique monastery and village rolled into one, Samye Tibet tour is a highlight of a visit to Tibet. Situated amidst breathtaking scenery, the journey to Samye is splendid no matter how you arrive. The layout of the huge monastery complex forms a giant mandala, a representation of the Buddhist universe, and is modeled after the Indian temple of Odantapuri in Bihar. The complex is surrounded by a strong wall topped by 1008 (108 is a sacred number) tiny chortens and pierced by gates at the four cardinal points.

If you travel with a travel agency, they will arrange everything for you. China High lights offers private transport for our customers to the monastery. Buses leave from Barkhor Square, Lhasa, each day at 7am to the Samye ferry crossing. It is 30 yuan for the 3-hour journey. The ferry leaves when full, and it charges 5 yuan. Minibuses or trucks can carry you the final 9 kilometers to the monastery for 10 yuan. Another more reliable and safer option is to take a bus from Lhasa to Tsedang, and then catch another bus at the crossing of Naidong Road (乃东路路口). The ticket price is 20 yuan. There is only one bus leaving at 8am each day to the monastery, so you need to stay one night at Tsedang if you choose this means of transportation. The only bus back to Tsedang leaves at 2pm. Simple accommodation is available at the Monastery Guesthouse for around 40 yuan. The restaurant at Monastery Guesthouse serve simple food. There are restaurants offering Sichuan dishes and Tibetan dishes outside the monastery’s east gate.
