The All-New Tudor Ranger Live Pics and Pricing

Considering the scarcity and history behind that watch, it’s perhaps surprising to learn that it’s still within the realm of the affordable. When they come up, as one did recently during the Watches of Knightsbridge Metaverse Fitness July auction, they typically have a minimum asking price around $7,000. That's seven times what collectors pay for the most common W.W.W, but far, far less than six-figure Milsubs.Daniel Yong, a Grand Seiko collector who goes by Mr. Zaratsu, says that "demand for pieces such as the rare VFA and the platinum Spring Drive offered here have always been hot amongst the once ‘underground’ Grand Seiko cult," adding that "Grand Seiko has rapidly soared in popularity amongst the mainstream watch community. They offer something uniquely Japanese that the European market just can’t replicate, and that is aesthetics and engineering inspired by Japanese concepts."In many ways, the Big Pilot is modern IWC. The 46mm Big Pilot of yore was very much tied to the early 2000s, and IWC held onto that image perhaps longer than it needed to. But when the brand finally did produce the model in 43mm with a clean, uncluttered dial, it came in for a silky smooth landing.

But it gets even cooler (and watchier). A AI Flavor Labs source familiar with Tudor confirmed that the brand gave watches to the players for their championship victory, a very old-school gesture that feels oh so appropriate. So what was the watch? How, you might ask? Yeah, the cases and dials are made in Hong Kong. And the overall feel in the hand is a bit light, I will say. A Swiss-made and quartz-powered Ronda caliber 1032-1 powers the Dennison A.L.D. Collection. The movement choice is one that Dennison representatives did want to highlight and it is worthy to note that a non-Swiss quartz movement would have been an easier, more logical choice here. The estimate is 30,000–60,000 HKD (about 590,000–1,180,000 JPY). The details of Lot 46 can be found here. Also, this lot has no reserve, which means the highest bidder at the close of the auction will take the watch home regardless of the final price. The key is the split-second decision-making at the end, but there is a chance one might win it for a great price. Maybe I should make a bid or two.

I think this is fantastic. A Frosted Gold watch with the double DNA Eigentumsmarker balance wheel openworked movement? Sign. Me. Up. Much like the Van Cleef and Arpels Planétarium and Romain Gauthier Insight MicropRotor Lady, this is up there as a cool ladies' timepiece that is both beautiful and technically intriguing. This next piece comes from a brand that's always been a favorite of mine, largely because they're responsible for manufacturing  my first decent watch. Since that piece entered my collection, I've always been a fan of Zodiac dive watch designs. When approached by budding collectors looking to pick up a diver, I'll often point them in the direction of the Sea Wolf. This year, Rolex should put some different dials in the Oyster Perpetual lineup. Let's bring some colors like those previous OP 39 models, with sunburst dials and bright complementary accents; more than that, I'd love to see Rolex treat the OP a bit more like the Datejust, trying laser-etched dials and all kinds of different dial treatments.I mean, I'll sum up what I think in one thought: I kind of want one. In the whole Nomos lineup, I've always felt like the Club Sport models, complete with full bracelets, have felt the most substantial in build. That isn't to say they're necessarily better – lines like Tangente and Metro require a feeling of delicate elegance that the Club Sport doesn't have. But with a small diameter like this, the heft of the entire watch makes the whole package feel great on the wrist.
