Who coordinates the rail-to-truck move for you?

Running into a new headache and could use some veteran advice. We’re starting to use more rail for the long-haul leg to cut costs, but the last leg from the rail yard to our local warehouse is a mess. It feels like our trucking guy and the rail depot are never on the same page, and our stuff just sits there. Is there a specific type of company that manages this entire handoff, or are we stuck playing middleman forever?

Welcome to the classic intermodal gap! That handoff is where days of delay happen. We got tired of playing traffic cop ourselves and went searching for a provider that controls the entire transition. What you really need is a partner with their own drayage fleet and warehouse space that specializes in this specific bridge. It turns two problems into one smooth operation. We switched to a local company that offers full intermodal drayage services, and it was a revelation. Having one team manage the container pull from the rail ramp, the paperwork, and the direct delivery to their own dock means no more lost days or confusion. It’s the only way to fly now. Here’s their info if you want to see how they structure it.
