"Helping The World DISCOVER THE WAY of LOVE!"

We are creatures of habit. Once we get into a Old School New Body  routine and get comfortable, it can be extremely difficult to change that around. This is especially true if the change you are trying to make is in regards to your health and fitness.

Let's face it, it's much easier to sit on the couch with a bag of potato chips in one hand and a soda in the other watching television as opposed to working out.

However, if you've made it a point to change your life around, and if your doctor has given you the OK, you need to drill in your head that it's time to get off the couch. As dramatic as that might sound, it's really not as bad as you might think.

It's not as if you need to completely abandon that piece of living room furniture unable to ever enjoy its comfort again. Instead, you should strive to do some type of workout before you relax on the couch if that is what you typically enjoy doing in the evening hours.

It may help to think of the couch now as your reward for working out for an hour.

For instance, in the past you may have plopped yourself down after a long day of work, or after helping the kids with their homework, and let a couple of hours pass by while watching popular television shows, sporting events, or movies.

That's a very tempting habit that can be difficult to break especially if you have not worked out in a long time. Nevertheless, everyone has to start somewhere and if you truly want to lose weight and get in shape, it's time to get off the couch on a regular basis.

One possible healthy habit you can develop is after dinner, give yourself a bit of time to digest by packing leftovers into plastic travel containers for future to-go lunches, then wash and dry all the dishes that were used.

After the kitchen is back into order, you might be ready to go on a nice 30 minute to one hour walk around the neighborhood. Even though that might not seem like much, consider this. A 1 hour walk at a moderate pace (3.0 mph) will burn 401 calories. Do that 6 days a week and you will be burning over 2,400 calories just by walking.

Those are calories you will get rid of as opposed to simply plopping down on the couch snacking on something else or even possibly falling asleep.

Give it a try next week. Drill into your mind that it's time to get off the couch and hopefully you will make a positive healthy change that will lead to weight loss success.
