Is PTO the same as vacation leave?

Not exactly, PTO is a more encompassing policy, and in most cases, the vacation days, sick leaves, and personal leaves are pooled in a single balance. Rather than keep track of the individual types of leave, the employees are given a specific quota of Paid Time Off, which they can utilize any time as long as it complies with the leave policies used by the company.
