Breast Cancer Prevention

A compound in cabbage and broccoli called indole-3-carbinol lowers activity in an enzyme associated with late-stage breast cancer, University of California, Berkeley, scientists announce.

A study of 2,000 Chinese women found that those who ate plenty of fresh and dried mushrooms were about two-thirds less likely to develop breast cancer than non-consumers of mushrooms. Those who drank green tea daily had an even lower risk.

A study by Florida researchers concluded that drinking three cups of tea a day may dramatically cut the threat of breast cancer for women under 50, the Telegraph reported. But that's not the case for older women with the same habit, the scientists said.
