Cavare, a Lens youth product, was sold to Rennes on 2 February but was seeing out the season with Lens on loan.

"His season is over," Kombouare said of the 20-year-old right-back. "He has an appointment with the Rennes doctor tomorrow to plan an operation.

"Regarding his future recovery, there will be a decision to be made in consultation with him, Rennes and us. We will follow closely the decisions taken by the Rennes doctors. This is a big blow for him and for us."
