Diabeted Destroyed Basic Guide to Diabetes

Diabetes is growing more and more common today especially type 2 diabetes, which is typically associated with low levels of physical activity as well as obesity. A diabetic is unable to properly convert sugar in the body to energy and therefore blood glucose levels can rise to Diabeted Destroyed Review dangerous levels. Our bodies use glucose as the primary source of fuel which is commonly provided through food choices such as carbohydrates. However, a diabetic who is suffering from type 1 or type 2 diabetes should carefully monitor their carbohydrate intake to help keep blood glucose levels at a healthy level.

Once glucose enters the body it is then carried to the cells where it can be used as a source of energy; however, in order for this process to occur it is imperative that the body has adequate amounts of insulin. Insulin is produced by the pancreas in healthy individuals. However, in individuals with type 1 diabetes the pancreas is unable to produce adequate amounts of insulin which is why this type of diabetes is commonly referred to as insulin dependent diabetes. A diabetic with type 2 diabetes may still be producing insulin; however, the insulin may be defective or the body may be insulin resistant which causes the glucose to be unable to move into the cells.

There are a variety of symptoms which can be caused by the onset of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes such as frequent urination, tingling or numbness in the feet or hands, slow healing of bruises or cuts, erectile dysfunction in men, fatigue, weight loss, excessive and relentless thirst or blurred vision. The type of diabetes which the diabetic has can determine the rapidness of the onset of symptoms. Patients with type 1 diabetes commonly have a quick onset of symptoms, while those with type 2 diabetes may experience these symptoms much slower causing them to go unnoticed until blood sugar levels have risen to dangerous levels.

If one or more of these symptoms is seen, it is imperative that you seek medical attention right away to determine if you are a diabetic. A simple blood test which will check the body's glucose level can provide a proper diagnosis. If it is found that the patients' blood glucose level is elevated the test will be repeated on a subsequent day to ensure that the diagnosis is in fact correct. Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes can be dangerous and can lead to a variety of health problems such as permanent nerve damage, diabetic neuropathy, kidney damage and heart problems such as a heart attack or stroke.
