EA staff don football shirts for legend, Moore

FIFA 15 News - National hero Moore, who died England's only ever World Cup-winning captain aged just 51, was recreated by game developers at Electronic Arts for their FIFA 15 Ultimate Team, visit Runeme.com for more FIFA 15 Guides and News.

Now staff at the gaming giant are pulling on football shirts to raise funds for the charity set up in his name, and build awareness about bowel cancer with football fans and gamers throughout April.

Moore captained the Hammers for more than 10 years and was national team skipper when England won the 1966 World Cup. He is recognised internationally as one of the greatest defenders of all time, and was cited by none other than fellow great Pele as the finest defender that he had ever played against.

Despite his premature passing after suffering with bowel cancer, his name lives on not only in the hearts of football fans and through our video game consoles, but in the work of a charity set up in his name. At the start of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, Bobby’s widow and founder of the Bobby Moore Fund, Stephanie Moore, visited EA’s UK office in Guildford to officially launch Football Shirt Friday.

As well as donating and donning a football shirt on Friday April 17th, staff are fundraising by organising raffles, cake and kit sales, and running a FIFA 15 Ultimate Team Legends tournament with Bobby Moore and Brazilian Legend Pele going head to head, replicating their World Cup battle in 1970. And they are urging football fans and gamers across the country to do the same.

Stephanie Moore said it was great to see her late husband's name still achieving so much.

"As the biggest fundraiser last year for Football Shirt Friday it’s been great to visit EA and thank the staff for their time, creativity and generosity," she said.
