Fonda: I was defined by my looks

Jane Fonda is "not proud" of the fact she has plastic surgery.

The actress still boasts a flawless complexion at the age of 77, thanks to going under the surgeon's knife at various points over the years.

But Jane insists that while she has been honest about her surgical exploits, she has never tried to promote the concept of altering one's appearance to make them seem younger.

"I did have plastic surgery," Jane told W magazine. "I'm not proud of the fact that I've had it. But I grew up so defined by my looks. I was taught to think that if I wanted to be loved, I had to be thin and pretty. That leads to a lot of trouble."

The Newsroom actress is still known for her incredible sense of style after decades in the spotlight.

However, Jane admits she finds her status as a fashionista baffling at times.

"Isn't it weird? In my dotage!" Jane noted. "I think it's a hoot that, at my age, people are calling me a fashion icon."

As well as her acting career, Jane also became a global icon thanks to her fitness videos.

And she admits that despite some aspects of her figure needing work, there are still some parts she is more than proud of.

"I've always had a good bum," Jane said, adding that her upper arm area is something she frequently tries to cover up.

"These only come out during candlelight on a very dark evening.

"I'm older now, and I have to be more self-conscious. When you're young, you can get away with more. I always thought that being self-conscious was a negative. But now I feel differently."Read more here:www.marieprom.co.uk
