Ryan Miller made 35 saves for the Sabres, who snapped a three-game losing skid. Matt Moulson, Brian Flynn and Steve Ott also scored for Buffalo in the shootout. With his 46th shootout win, Miller took sole possession of the record for most shootout wins in NHL history. The Rangers Henrik Lundqvist has 45. Milan Michalek scored Ottawas goal and Robin Lehner made 35 saves. The Senators shootout scorers were Mika Zibanejad, Kyle Turris and Michalek. Buffalo is 4-0 in games decided by a shootout. Jamie McBain appeared to give the Sabres a second-period lead at the 15:30 mark when Lehner pushed a loose puck into his own net, but referee Tom Kowal ruled that the whistle had blown. The play was reviewed and fans were treated to a replay with the on-ice volume amplified that showed the puck crossing the line before the whistle blew. The NHL released a statement saying there was a delayed penalty on Ottawa which shouldve stopped play when Ottawa touched the puck. The Sabres hadnt played since Saturday and controlled much of the first two periods against a Senators team playing a third game in four nights. Ottawa scored first on a 2-on-1 rush 6:25 into the first period, when Michalek beat Miller for his fifth goal of the season. Buffalo nearly tied it when Erik Karlsson took a hooking call at the 9:14 mark of the second period, but Lehner made four saves on Buffalos first power play of the night to protect the 1-0 lead. Girgensons had the game-tying goal. Christian Ehrhoff took a wrist shot that Lehner kicked to his right and Girgensons swatted at the loose puck. It beat Lehner between the legs, hitting each skate before crawling over the goal line. The Sabres had a season-high 18 shots in the second period, and their 29 shots through two periods were more than theyve had in 21 full games. Ottawa controlled the third period as it outshot Buffalo 13-6. Overtime had free-flowing play with scoring chances for both teams. Miller made a sprawling stop on Chris Phillips before McBain was unable to convert two chances in the Ottawa end. Tyler Myers was led off the ice in overtime after taking a Jason Spezza shot to the face. Ehrhoff nearly put the Sabres in front early in the third on a breakaway attempt that fooled Lehner, but went wide of the goal. NOTES: Sabres LW Ville Leino was a healthy scratch for Buffalo. ST. LOUIS -- After the St. Louis Blues let a two-goal lead get away, Vladimir Tarasenko made sure they skated off with a win. Tarasenko scored and added an assist in regulation, and then netted the deciding goal in the shootout to lead the Blues to a 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday night. Just seconds after Roman Josi gave the Predators a 3-2 lead at 7:33 of the third period, Tarasenko got control of the puck. He moved into the Nashville end, and after hesitating from the high slot, beat goalie Carter Hutton with a wrist shot at 7:49. Tarasenko credited his father, Andrei, who coaches in Russia, for his tying goal. "That was a set play that my father (taught) me," he said. "If you do it right, its probably hard to catch it. I just tried to make it through." But Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said Tarasenko, who has 18 goals, has the kind of skills that cannot be taught. "Theres not many pure shooters," Hitchcock said. "But hes one of them." Brian Elliott, who has won 14 of his last 15 at home, stopped three of four shots in the shootout. Nashville fell to 1-7 in the tiebreaker. Predators coach Barry Trotz was pleased to get one point. "I thought it was a great point for us," Trotz said. "Youre down to the St Louis Blues 2-0, and its a real hard rink to come into. They come at you hard, but I thought as the game went on we got better and better." "Tarasenko is dangerous off the rush," Trotz said. Derek Roy, who played on a line with Tarasenko and Jaden Schwartz, said the sky is the limit for Tarasenko. "I feel like he gets better every game," Roy said. "Hes eager to learn. He wants to play well and he wants to win. Those are good qualities in a player." Schwartz opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 9:11 of the first period when he converted a centring pass from Chris Stewart. Backes gave St. Louis a 2-0 lead when he redirected Jay Bouwmeesters shot from the right point at 3:31 of the second. But Gaustad got the Predators back in it with 3:12 left in the second when the puck came to him in the slot off a scrum in the corner, and he buried a shot past Elliott.
