How to Fix Cricut Calibration Issues? (Fix Guide)

Did something go wrong with your Cricut project? The cuts don’t look accurate, and does this happen every time? Are you unsure which settings to apply or how to fix it? That’s a calibration issue, and it is quite common.

Cricut calibration issues occurring in the middle of a project can be very frustrating, but there are expert-tested solutions that can fix this problem.

If you are seeking quick solutions for Cricut calibration issues, you are in the right place. Before we start, here are the common causes of calibration failure.

Reasons Why Cricut Calibration Fails

The following are common reasons that may stop your machine from working correctly:

  • Incorrect paper placement: The paper is not placed properly on the mat.

  • Dirty or worn-out blade: If the blade is dirty or damaged, it won’t cut well.

  • Outdated software: An outdated version of Design Space may cause errors.

  • Improper lighting: If there is not enough light, the Cricut may not read the lines properly.

  • Wrong calibration sheet: You may be using the wrong or unofficial calibration sheet.

Things to Check Before You Start Troubleshooting

Before you can start fixing a failed Cricut calibration, here is a list of things to check:

  • Machine and material check: Ensure the machine is clean and the blade is sharp. Also, check if the material is placed correctly.

  • Software check: Ensure that Design Space software is installed on your computer. Check that your machine is properly connected.

  • Device & internet check: Ensure your computer system is working properly and your internet connection is stable.

  • Verify calibration standards: Make sure you are using the correct paper size and follow the official calibration steps carefully.

Mistakes to Avoid When Fixing Calibration Issues

If you want the troubleshooting to go smoothly and steadily, avoid these common mistakes during the process:

  • Skipping steps in the instructions: Don’t miss anything, as each step is crucial.

  • Placing the material incorrectly on the mat: Keep the material straight and place it in the correct position.

  • Not cleaning the machine before starting: Clean your machine properly and remove dust or debris before troubleshooting.

  • Using low-quality or damaged materials: Use high-quality materials to get the best results.
