T-Complex When trying to increase muscle mass, snack on protein-rich foods prior to working out, and again after you finish. Aim for 15 grams of protein both before and after you exercise. This amount of protein can be found in a glass or two of milk.Having a strict schedule for your workouts will prevent injuries and help you gain muscle. You shouldn't work out more than three times per week. Beginners should limit hard exercise even further; twice a week is sufficient.
