inov-8 F-lite rosherunmaxfr.cc 232 on the left (now called 192 ; 0mm drop and 6mm midsole height) and F-lite 262 on the right (now called 240 Standard fit; 6mm drop and 7mm FF/13mm H midsole heights). Simple shoes built on a road racing flat geometry and sold as Crossfit shoes¡makes them perfect trail shoes, of course :). Very comfortable and versatile, albeit more minimal trail options; a version with a rock plate would be awesome! 270 g and 285 g for F-Lite 232 and 262 respectively in M13.
Another reality about my desire to see greater market acceptance of lightweight, less-structured footwear became clear to me after I started teaching again a few weeks back. When I look at college students on my campus, Nike is by far the most popular brand of athletic shoe on their feet, and the Nike Free Run seems to be a big hit among the 18-22 year old crowd. None of them are wearing Saucony Hattoris or Merrell Trail Gloves. I was very skeptical about the Nike Free Run when it first came out, but after trying it I found that despite the deceptive marketing about it being a ¡°barefoot¡± shoe, I actually liked running in them. Nike Air Max 2016 Flyknit Pascher Whereas Nike is already top dog in the athletic shoe market, Skechers is going to have a really tough time breaking into the serious running market. However, their shoes will wind up on shelves of stores where a lot more consumers shop, and could be an impetus for further innovation in the lightweight/flexible shoe niche. If they can use their production scale to put them out at a low price, it might also lead to price reductions from competitors ¨C I think a lot of the so called ¡°minimalist¡± shoes out there right now are vastly overpriced.
I have written an entire post on how I define minimalist footwear, but to state my view succinctly, I view a minimalist shoe as one that more closely approximates the barefoot running condition. If we view running footwear as a spectrum, on one end you have no shoe at all, or barefoot. In the barefoot condition cushioning and stability are provided by the inherent strength and control of the feet and legs, exteroreception/ground feel are maximized, there is no added weight on the lower extremity, the heel and forefoot are placed at the same level on the ground, the splay of the foot is not restricted when it contacts the ground, and flexibility is limited only by the structural limitations of an individual¡¯s feet. Thus, more minimal shoes will:
My Thoughts: Great shoe ¨C zero drop, roomy forefoot, and great ground feel. Better on trails than roads. Women¡¯s equivalent is the Merrell Pace Glove. Read my full review of the Merrell Trail Glove here.
In terms of specs, the Hitogami weighs in at 8oz in men¡¯s size 9, which is almost identical to the Sayonara. Sole stack height is also very similar at 23mm heel, 14mm forefoot. I have not found the 9mm drop to be a problem in the Hitogami, wherea Nike Air Max 2016 Femme Pascher s in the Sayonara I think it contributed to my negative reaction. I think this is a perfect case where you need to consider drop in terms of more than just the numbers ¨C I can handle a higher drop shoe if it has a softish heel, and the Hitogami meets this requirement (as do shoes like the adidas Adios Boost and New Balance 1400v2). The Sayonara does not.
My Thoughts: Close to the ground, firm, and a very wide forefoot. And the price is right as well. Solid shoe! You ca Nike Air Max 2016 Homme Pascher n read my review of the New Balance 730 here.
