Given all of this, how does the Kinvara actually perform? Below are my thoughts.Saucony KinvaraAppearance: As I¡¯ve mentioned in other shoe reviews, I¡¯m a sucker for a shoe that looks good. The Kinvara is a fine looking shoe, but not overly flashy like some of the others in my collection (Brooks Launch and Mach 12 come to mind). The upper is mostly just white and black on my pair (though I have seen pictures of a slick all-red version), and the sole is bright red. Saucony offers the Kinvara in a wide variety of color schemes, mostly by varying the midsole color, and this is a testament to the marketing effort they are putting into this shoe. Rarely Nike Air Max 1 Essential France do we see a lightweight training shoe with so many color combinations to choose from.

Update 10/6/2010: Decided to go with the Kinvara at the Smuttynose Rockfest Marathon (full Smuttynose race report here) and qualified for Boston in 3:15:21 ¨C that¡¯s a 9 minute PR. Shoes felt great the whole way, no blisters or hotspots, and recovery has been going really well. Awesome marathon shoe.

I want to love this shoe, and for the most part I¡¯ve really enjoyed running in them. I¡¯ve done up to 14 miles in a single run, and I really like the amount of cushion that this shoe provides in a lightweight package. I¡¯d classify it as a very soft shoe, probably softer than the Saucony Kinvara. Closest comparison might be something like the Altra The One2 (in terms of both fit and feel).

It was an interesting shoe in that it was far more responsive than the marketing associated with the shoe would have suggested. The 980 was firm, not soft and foamy, and I liked the ride. Unfortunately it suffered from a cramped toebox that left me with toe blisters on longer runs. I¡¯d heard rumors that New Balance would be addressing the toebox issue in future members of the Fresh Foam line, and I was excited to hear that one of the nex Nike Air Max Thea Femme France t releases would be a lighter, speedier model called the Zante.
