"Helping The World DISCOVER THE WAY of LOVE!"
First the specs ¨C my Nike Roshe Run Outlet pair weighed in at 7.5 oz (size 10.5), and I measured a stack height of 23mm (18mm sole thickness, 5mm insole thickness). This is a zero drop shoe. When I first put the One2¡¯s on my feet my reaction was ¡°Wow, this is an Altra???¡± They felt downright cushy compared to other Altras I¡¯ve tried, and for me this is a good thing. The feel underfoot is very comparable to the Saucony Virrata, maybe even the original Saucony Kinvara. And the reason why this is good for me is because those two shoes have been on my feet in my last three marathons (not at the same time!). The One2 is like a Virrata with a super wide toebox and a less structured upper, and less of a lug-like feeling under the forefoot.
My first thought upon putting the Gazelles on my feet was the they were insanely comfortable. The footbed is glued down (but removable with some effort) and lightly cushioned, and feels great under a bare foot. But, where thi Nike Blazer Basse Femmes s shoe really shines is the upper. It¡¯s made of the same stretchy, spandexy (is that a word?) material that composes the entire upper of the Adapt, and is extremely comfortable against the foot (feels kinda like a stretchy sock). There are, however, a number of differences between the uppers of the Gazelle and the Adapt. Obviously, the big difference is that the Gazelle has laces and a more traditional ankle cuff. The laces attach to the adidas stripes on each side, and this combination alone makes this look much more like a running shoe than the Adapt ¨C I really like the look of the Gazelles.
My first impression of the shoe upon taking them out of the box was very positive. Altra has come a long way in terms of aesthetics, though based on photos I¡¯ve posted on Instagram and Facebook the response to the One2 seems to be either A) beautiful! or B) they look like bowling shoes. I fall on the side of thinking that they look great.
Nike Sneakerboat II
Going solely on specs, the Fresh Foam 980 is clearly not a ¡°maximal¡± shoe. With a stack height of 25mm heel, 21mm forefoot and a weight of 9.1 oz it¡¯s actually pretty similar to shoes like the Saucony Kinvara, Brooks Pureflow, and Asics Gel Lyte33, all of which could be considered lightweight trainers. And perhaps most perplexingly to me is the fact that the Fresh Foam doesn¡¯t really feel all that soft. To me, the Kinvara Nike Blazer Basse Pas Cher 5 is a much softer shoe. This isn¡¯t a bad thing, I just think the Fresh Foam has been poorly marketed.
A few days ago I wrote a post about a new shoe that Nike had released called the Nike Sneakerboat II. It¡¯s basically a water shoe/aqua sock that I thought looked like it might have some potential as a minimalist running shoe. Well, I went ahead and bought a pair of Sneakerboat II¡¯s (only cost me $40), and they just arrived in the mail yesterday. Here are a few initial impression Nike Blazer Haute Femmes s after kicking around in them this afternoon (no run yet):
