Nike ad ribs five golfers not named Tiger

Nike Free 4.0 Tiger Woods' return to golf is cheering up fans, broadcasters and corporate sponsors such as Nike. The only ones bummed are Woods' fellow Nike Golf endorsers Anthony Kim, Stewart Cink, Trevor Immelman, Justin Leonard and Carl Pettersson, who realize the fun's over for them.

Nike Free Run Womens That's the lighthearted premise of a new Nike Golf TV commercial celebrating Woods' return to action at the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship this week in Marana, Ariz.

The satirical spot shows Kim, Cink, Leonard, Immelman and Pettersson enjoying "the good life" while Woods is out of action because of injury. They're winning tournaments, spraying champagne, appearing on magazine covers. As the group yuks it up, Woods surprises them by striding into the locker room and saying, "Hey, guys." Realizing the party's over, they turn dejectedly back to their lockers.

Nike Free Run 5.0 The 60 second spot debuts Wednesday and will air until March 1 on ESPN, ESPNews and Golf Channel.

Nike Free 3.0 v4 "From our perspective, the spot does two things," says Cindy Davis, president of Nike Golf. "Obviously, it celebrates Tiger's return. Secondly, it celebrates the 2008 success of some of our Nike Golf athletes. Beyond (Woods), Justin Leonard, Stewart Cink, Trevor Immelman, Anthony Kim and Carl Pettersson won last year as well."

"Everyone notices everything Tiger does and everything Tiger is playing," Davis says. "I think it's going to create a lot intrigue and interest and a lot of trial for our products."
