"Helping The World DISCOVER THE WAY of LOVE!"
In the whirlwind of daily life, especially during the past few weeks, many of us have taken on new roles that we never imagined. Whether it's being a chef (a role that used to involve more takeout than homemade meals), a teacher (explaining algebra is no easy feat), or even a nurse (my husband’s leg fracture on day one of quarantine is a story for another day), these new responsibilities have kept us busy. Amidst all this, I almost missed out on creating something special for one of my favorite holidays—Easter. But yesterday, I managed to carve out a little "me time" and crafted these delightful DIY Easter vases. Let me walk you through this quick and easy project that you can complete in just 30 minutes!
The first step in this project was deciding on the right font for the “Hoppy Easter” text. The font plays a crucial role in setting the tone and style of your project. After exploring some of my favorite fonts—High Tide, Poker Night, Felix, and Four Season Home Décor—I ultimately chose Four Season Home Décor for this particular craft. The whimsical and elegant style of this font perfectly complemented the Easter theme I was going for.
Next, it was time to create the bunny design. For this, I used a combination of two different images: "Did Some Bunny Say Easter" and "Cat Face." Each image provided a key element to bring the bunny to life.
The "Did Some Bunny Say Easter" image featured bunny ears that were just what I had envisioned for my project. However, the accompanying text wasn't necessary for my design. Fortunately, Cricut Design Space offers a simple solution—by clicking the “eye” icon on the far right side of the screen, you can easily hide the unwanted text, leaving only the bunny ears visible.
The "Cat Face" image provided the foundation for the bunny’s facial features, but it needed some customization. Specifically, I didn’t require all the facial details that came with the image. This is where the contour feature came into play. Initially, I was hesitant to use contouring, fearing it would be too complex. But to my surprise, it turned out to be incredibly user-friendly. If you're new to contouring, don't be intimidated—it's easier than you think! By using this feature, I was able to remove the unnecessary parts of the image, leaving only the essential elements needed to complete the bunny face.
To give the bunny a unique and charming detail, I decided to transform its nose into a heart shape. Cricut Design Space makes this process simple—just select the heart shape from the left column and adjust it to fit the bunny’s nose. This small change added a sweet, personal touch to the design, making it even more special.
With the design finalized, it was time to bring it to life by cutting the vinyl. Cricut’s precision cutting technology ensures that each element of your design is accurately cut, making the weeding process much smoother. Weeding involves removing the excess vinyl from around your design, leaving only the elements you want to transfer onto your project. For the bunny face, I used transfer tape, which made it easy to apply the intricate design onto the vases.
Once all the elements were ready, it was time to apply the vinyl to the vases. The letters were straightforward—I treated them like stickers, simply peeling and sticking them onto each vase. For the bunny face, the transfer tape was a lifesaver, ensuring that the design was applied smoothly and evenly.
In just under 30 minutes, I had created a set of adorable Easter vases that added a festive touch to my table. This project is not only quick and easy but also a fun way to celebrate the holiday with a personalized craft. Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or new to DIY projects, this Easter vase project is perfect for adding a handmade touch to your holiday décor. Plus, it's a great way to take a break from the busyness of life and indulge in a little creative "me time."
