Redskins fire back at Ravens on Twitter over Kirk Cousins

The Washington Redskins feel quite happy Kevin Long Womens Jersey with their quarterback Kirk Cousins, even if a long-term deal hasn’t been reached. What they don’t like is another team throwing shade on their guy.

Which, naturally, happened on Twitter and which, of course, led to a little spat -- or at least an entertaining reply by the Redskins.

It started with the contract extension given to quarterback Joe Flacco, followed by a news conference in which general manager Ozzie Newsome pointed out how teams struggle at quarterback.

“Philly signing [Sam] Bradford and Louis Williams Womens Jersey Washington having to put the franchise tag on [Kirk] Cousins [are examples],” Newsome told reporters. "They don’t have the résumé that Joe has, and for us to be moving forward with a guy that has eight years and won a Super Bowl and been in three AFC Championship Games, it speaks volumes.”

The Philadelphia Eagles signed Bradford, who has an injury history and zero playoff games to his credit, earlier this week to a two-year deal with $26 million guaranteed. Cousins, after his first full season as a starter, will play under the tag for $19.95 million (unless a long-term deal can be worked out). He has started and lost one playoff game.

Meanwhile, the Ravens gave Flacco a Wayne Gretzky Youth Jersey contract that will average $21.1 million during the next six years with a $40 million signing bonus. Flacco has won 10 playoff games and a Super Bowl.

So the Ravens tweeted Newsome’s comment that “Joe is our QB and we’re proud to say that. Teams struggle with the QB position.” And then they showed pictures of Bradford and Cousins.
The Redskins did not struggle at this position in 2015 -- Cousins threw 29 touchdown passes and only 11 interceptions -- though it’s been one they’ve tried to solve for more than two decades. And apparently the Redskins’ Twitter account did not appreciate the Ravens seemingly talking smack, intended or not.
The Ravens later tweeted out an apology, but it’s safe to wonder what might get tweeted out if Cousins plays well versus the Ravens when they meet this season.
