The original 3706 of the '90s was 39mm in diameter and used a Valjoux 7750 movement. The C.03 is 41mm in diameter and measures 14.5mm from top to bottom. But the purity of the IWC Pilot watch designAs the name of the watch suggests, it features a micro-rotor style movement. This means, unlike a standard rotor (the large plate that spins to wind your watch as you move), it is set right into the caliber itself, allowing for the entire movement to be far thinner. Baltic is using the automatic micro-rotor ELA05MN caliber, made by Hangzhou, which is a competitor to Seagull (which, interestingly, powers Baltic's bi-compax chronograph models).

That said the dimensions are not excessive for the nature of the watch and for its architecture; there are basically two complete going trains inside the case and given that it's two watches in one, it's reasonably compact.I think about that each time I see an advertisement that touts the life of adventure you could live if only you had "this watch." A cynic might say that such watches are a solution looking for a problem. But throughout history watches have often been truly ingenious answers to real-world headaches.

This new movement is thinner at 3.9 mm (the 3120 measured 4.26 mm) and offers a higher frequency of 4 Hz (the 3120 offered 3 Hz). It also features 60 hours of power reserve.
