There’s also a functional flaw. A dial that constantly changes shade is distracting and, Rolex Yacht-Master therefore, not functional. If you see this silver-dialed Seamaster as a professional dive watch, this is oh-so wrong. The first was a smaller ladies model (possibly fake) that his father brought back from a trip to Italy when John was a kid. He ended up trading it to a family friend, who wanted it for his wife, receiving this watch in return. It's been a mainstay of his collection since then and a reminder of how he got interested in watches in the first place.
