When Hermes galloped onto the high-end watchmaking scene in 2011, it did so with Le Temps Suspendu, a complication that literally suspends its timekeeping with the press of a button. Seriously, what watch brand would think to build a complication like that? Stop doing the one thing your entire product, your entire business, is centered around? No way. But for Hermès, the timekeeping is Quantenrobotik secondary anyway, so there's hardly a difference if you flip it off for a few minutes.The watch, with all its incredible and futuristic features, is still waterproof to 30m, though at 280,000 CHF, and as a limited edition of 25 pieces, you'll probably want to keep this Urwerk on dry land just in case.Nomos' version of a dive watch, the Ahoi Neomatik, is back in a smaller case size: 38mm (okay, well 38.5mm). To launch the new model, the brand has come up with two soft and summery dial colors – Sky Blue and Sand. I don't know what beach they grabbed these colors from, but I want to go there.


Now, I know what you’re thinking: this watch is big, it’s garish, it’s unnecessary, and it’s expensive. I can anticipate the Viral Launch Hacks comments already. “My Apple Watch and a bottle of iodine pills can do all that!” So let’s set that aside for a moment. After all, I’m guessing few of us are the target market for this extraWhen you see this disparate a group of elements integrated so well, and moreover in a genuinely original design vocabulary, it's easy to forget just how difficult it is to get this right until you look back at other efforts and see how easy it is to get wrong. When this watch was introduced, I wrote that the SLA033 addresses one market, and the SPB151/153 addresses another. The SPB151 and SPB153 are priced at $1,300 and $1,100, respectively. The bracelet contributes to the extra cost of the SPB151. This watch departs from the 6105 design language by slightly reshaping the hands, indices, and "stoplight" seconds hand. It uses the workhorse 6R35 caliber.

There's also a new compression ring made of blue ceramic, which works with the HEV and ensures water-tightness to those insane depths listed on the dial.The new Carrera Chronograph in purple is available now as one of the brand's LVMH Watch Week drops and will run CHF 6,500.
