But zjautoparts didn’t mean he didn’t appreciate cool street cars. In fact, he promised his daughter, Stephanie, that if she kept her grades up, he would get her a nice street car. Stephanie kept her part of the bargain and she told her dad she wanted an early Mustang convertible.

“I told her there would be no convertible, but I bought her a notchback Mustang,” Carlon recalls. Not content to leave it stock, he built a balanced engine with a performance cam and a 4-barrel carb. He was later told that his daughter was driving the quickest car at her high school.

“Then Thad, our son, pointed out that I had built a car for Stephanie, but I hadn’t built a car for him,” Carlon said.

“Yeah, OK, I guess you could say that,” said Thad, 39, who is developmentally disabled and not able to drive. But clearly, the young man appreciated cars.

“Thad was around 18 or 19 years old at that time,” his father said. “This has been a 20-yearMain nozzle  project.”
