MANCHESTER, England -- Manchester City powered forward with ease into the FA Cup quarterfinals on Saturday, overcoming Premier League title rival Chelsea 2-0 to maintain its quadruple chase. Jerseys NFL Cheap . Stevan Jovetic and Samir Nasri provided the goals to avenge a 1-0 league loss this month, with a formidable City in complete control and preventing Chelsea from hitting the target once. "We can beat everyone," Jovetic said. "We learnt something (from losing to Chelsea), you could see that on the pitch." Although Chelsea leads the league, City is only three points behind in third with a game in hand after its midweek game was postponed due to bad weather. City also remains in Champions League contention, facing Barcelona at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, and meets Sunderland in the League Cup final next month. Sunderland also advanced in the FA Cup, with Craig Gardner clinching a 1-0 victory over Southampton. Wigan maintained its cup defence by winning 2-1 at Cardiff, with Ben Watson, whose goal clinched the cup before the team was relegated from the topflight last May, netting the winner in south Wales. In Sundays headline fixture in the fifth round, Arsenal hosts Liverpool in another meeting of Premier League title rivals. With City hosting Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday, beating Chelsea showed the enviable depth of resources available at Manuel Pellegrinis disposal. Jovetic, who is only Citys fourth-choice striker despite being signed last year at a cost of 24 million pounds ($40 million), first came close when he struck the crossbar from the rebound after goalkeeper Petr Cech fumbled Yaya Toures strike. Jovetic hit the woodwork again in the 16th minute but this time the ball went over the line as City ripped through a Chelsea defence missing captain John Terry. David Silva played in Edin Dzeko, who sent the ball out for Jovetic to strike off the post into the bottom left. It was just Jovetics sixth goal of an injury-hit start to his City career. City was far more assertive and cohesive than the side that was beaten here by Chelsea less than two weeks ago, with Dzeko also testing Cech with a curling shot. "We wanted revenge today," City captain Vincent Kompany said. "Twelve days ago we had a really bad game, we gave them a lot of chances." How different this game was. After failing to get a sight of goal in the first half, Chelsea striker Samuel Etoo was replaced at halftime, with Mohamed Salah coming on. The January signing didnt help to transform Chelseas fortunes, and forward Fernando Torres was brought off the bench on the hour to replace Ramires, taking a central position as Salah shifted to the right. But it was a City substitution that made a bigger impact as Nasri, in his first appearance in a month, completed an incisive move to score six minutes after coming on. After receiving the ball from Nasri, Silva squared it back to the Frenchman, who continued his run to dart into space between defenders David Luiz and Gary Cahill, and slot the ball in from close range. It was Citys 117th goal of a season that should end with a trophy unlike last year under Roberto Mancini. "I had a lot of questions after Chelsea, if were going to change our way of playing," Pellegrini said, referring to the 1-0 loss. "But I repeat: We will not change the way we play. Today was important to show why we continue to play in the same way." Chelsea can only win on two fronts -- the Premier League and Champions League -- and Jose Mourinhos side has the edge over City domestically having won both league encounters. "We were never close to scoring or being dominant, or bringing a scare to the game," Mourinho said. "Today there was a different freshness between the teams ... and one team had a week without professional football," he added. The league announced Friday that umpire Roy Ellison will not work an NFL game this weekend as punishment for words directed at left tackle Trent Williams late in the second quarter of the Redskins loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The National Football League Referees Association issued a statement Friday evening saying that it will file a grievance, that the suspension was a rush to judgment without hearing Ellisons side of the story. Williams said he was called vulgar names -- although not the N-word -- by Ellison and did nothing to provoke it. A replay from the second quarter shows Ellison gesturing at Williams while walking backward just before a snap, with Williams, quarterback Robert Griffin III and tight end Niles Paul turning to look back at the umpire. Redskins coach Mike Shanahan was among those who supported Williams, saying: "You just cant use that type of language to get your point across." But John Wooten, chairman of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, group that includes minority coaches and officials, said his organization spoke to game officials who said that Ellison was responding after Williams directed the N-word at Ellison. Both Williams and Ellison are African-American. The incident, coming in the wake of allegations involving racially charged texts allegedly sent by Richie Incognito to a Miami Dolphins teammate, led the alliance to issue a statement imploring all NFL players to stop using the racial slur. "I think that we all understand clearly that in terms of supporting Roy, were not in any way condoning his reaction to what happened," Wooten told The Associated Press. "Theres no question in our mind what provoked all of this, that there was a disrespectful communication going on between Trent and an Eagle player. They were using the N-word along with all other type of profanity, and the N-word is what caused Roy to say, Hey, you need to be more respectful." Wooten, 76, said Williams then directed the profanity at Ellison. "There is no question in my mind that Trent said this to Roy, and I dont question that," said Wooten, wwho noted that he has not spoken to Ellison directly. Cheap NFL Jerseys Free Shipping. "And thats what, with Incognito and all this stuff and the N-word and how its used in the locker room, that caused us to say, Hey, lets put an end to this." Wooten, who played nine seasons in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns and Redskins, said Ellison should have thrown a flag on Williams instead of escalating the exchange. In announcing the suspension, the NFL said that "game officials are expected to avoid personal confrontations with players and be respectful of players and coaches at all times." Michael Arnold, NFLRA legal counsel, said Ellison is an accomplished 11-year veteran who is highly respected. "The NFL imposed its judgment upon him without consideration of all the facts," Arnold said. "The decision was arbitrary and unjustified and will be challenged with an immediate grievance." Jim Quirk, NFLRA executive director, said the "NFLs decision to suspend Mr. Ellison creates a double standard for what is acceptable on field conduct." He and Arnold cited the leagues decision to take no action against Williams. "The League insists that officials are held to a high standard but others involved in the game are held to no standard," Quick added. "Apparently the NFL accepts and condones a culture where players, coaches and teams can use racial slurs and profanity toward each other and at officials. "Music played in locker rooms and in the stadiums before games include racial slurs (including the "N" word) and references to sexual violence with impunity. These types of cheap slurs and racial banter on the field often lead to angry and emotional responses which can result in fighting and injury. This is completely contrary to the atmosphere of sportsmanship and respect the league says should exist in the game." Williams, 25, said on Wednesday he didnt expect the league to punish Ellison, saying the NFL would "probably sweep it under the rug." He also reiterated that he did not say anything provocative to Ellison. "If I said something of that nature to him, its at least a flag, or Im thrown out of the game," Williams said. "Id never say anything like that to a referee." Said Wooten: "I know that Trent has said he didnt say that. If thats what he wants to live with, he can live with that." wholesale stitched jerseys wholesale jerseys wholesale nfl jerseys cheap nfl jerseys cheap nfl jerseys china ' ' '
