I brought my original watch with me today to show you side-by-side how the two differ. While the there is no doubt we all would have preferred the watch manually-wound, 37mm, and with a more balanced dial (even those at Longines agree), we still have a really repliki Richard Mille rm 07 nice time-only watch here that gives much of the same feel as these early Longines time-onlys.And yet, looking back, it’s clear that a theme emerged all on its own. The stories here have a contrarian streak. They celebrate rebels and renegades. They challenge everyone who loves horology to reconsider their assumptions.Movement for the closed-dial models, Cartier caliber 430 MC, 20.5mm x 2.15mm, running in 18 jewels at 21,600 vph with 38 hour power reserve; for the open dial models, Cartier skeletonized caliber 9627 MC, 26.1mm x 3.9mm, running in 23 jewels at 21,600 vph, with 38 hour power reserve.


These are, without question, three of my favorite watches of SIHH 2017 so far. They're fun, wearable, reference the past without being straight vintage re-issues, and, importantly, are well-priced. The fact that it appears not to be a limited edition and that it is priced very reasonably, in my opinion, at $8,700, is something that makes me happy.I figured sourcing the watch must have been the coup of the century for the Phillips team. And to not only have one Daniels wristwatch, but three in the same sale is, again, downright remarkable. But it turns out it actually wasn't that difficult. It all started with a simple conversation.


The crown of the Type 390 works in an interesting way as well. You don't pull it out for winding and setting – instead, you rotate it slightly to unlock it, and it pops out on its own, telescoping into position.Its dial is a dead giveaway, with improperly repliki Richard Mille rm 38 indented sub-dials, along with a line of text near the six o’clock position that reads “17 JEWELS INCABLOC,” much like what you’d see on cheaper chronographs of the same vintage. Also worth pointing out are its indices, which in no way remotely resemble anything I’ve seen on a 3646 dial to date. The indices found on authentic dials are stick markers with edges angled towards the dial’s center.We've chosen five ads that capture the horological zeitgeist of the time. You know, the days when you could actually buy watches at the price the manufacturer recommended you buy them at. Folks say the '90s were a forgettable decade in terms of watch design, but I'd push back on that; just take a look at these ads. They make the watches and watch-wearing lifestyle  look fantastic, which is exactly what they're supposed to do.Swatch Group has not attended Watches & Wonders after Baselworld perished, and he doesn't believe that will change in the future."Watches & Wonders is a gathering of the elitists, and it is excluding the most important element of our industry: the consumers all around the world," he said. "It is a comfortable place for the insiders, seeing all retailers and journalists in one shot, but a real innovation will emerge from disruption, not in a protected environment favored by the system."
