Weekend Edition: Should Every Season Be Grand Seiko Season?

A lot of Mark's watches are very clean and don't show a ton of age, but this watch definitely looks worn-in. It's not the rarest watch in his collection, but the combination of the matte gold finishes, the deep reddish-brown dial and bezel, and the geometric markers give it a ton of warmth and make it one of Mark's falsi audemars-piguet orologi favorites.It's well worth pointing out that IWC is not abandoning the larger 52000 series of movements for the Portugieser Perpetual Calendar. The ZO9595 manages that length really well and does not overhang on my 7-inch wrist.I've learned to appreciate (and occasionally love) the artistry involved in making a gem-set watch, but for me, it can't compare to the talent required to accomplish this dial. This is the first time Vacheron has combined gem-setting and grisaille enamel, and while in Vacheron's pictures, the dial trended more green, here it seemed more blue to me. Regardless, the depth and contrast of the enamel work was outstanding and offered more color than traditional grisaille enamel work.Now, let's go back to the thing that really surprised me with this new limited edition set. Each box also comes with the aforementioned dash timer. The designs and layouts pair well with the chronograph I just showed you. The left module is a flyback chronograph with 30 30-minute counter and that French-flag-inspired design language. On the right is a super-legibile clock with a nice font selection that gives it a good retro appeal.
