"Helping The World DISCOVER THE WAY of LOVE!"
The athletically gifted player stands out. His teammates fifa 15 coins know he’s the best player, and all the parents recognize his talents, too. When coaching a youngster who’s far superior in skill development, be aware that you have to challenge him in your drills to allow him to enhance his skills, without compromising the rest of the team in the process. This balancing act can be tricky at times because you don’t want to isolate the player from his team- mates, but you also don’t want to bore him with a drill that he’s already good at (but that the rest of the team is just learning). Rely on your creativity to concoct clever ways to help both the kids who are just learning a skill and the talented players excel and learn at the same time.
If you’re working with the team on attacking against a blocker, and you’re serving as the defender in the drill, you can make minor adjustments to ensure that every player benefits, regardless of skill level. For youngsters who are just learning to deal with opposing players in front of them, put your arms up slightly to the side. Doing so gives the players an opening to deliver the attack through and also helps them become comfortable striking the ball even with distracting arms in the way. For more experienced kids, you can easily increase the difficulty of the drill by actually trying to block their hit. Using just a little sprinkle of ingenuity can make a big difference in meeting all the kids’ needs with even the most basic of drills.
Falling into the habit of piling the praise on the players who continually put a smile on your face with their skills is easy to do. Keep yourself in check and refrain from going overboard with the superlatives because overdoing it can have adverse effects:
Some kids may begin feeling unnecessary pressure, which can inhibit their performance and smother their fun. They may feel that with all the attention you’re throwing in their direction, they have to shoulder more of the responsibility for the team’s success and failure. If they don’t pro- duce a certain number of points, they may feel personally responsible on those days the team comes up short in the scoreboard department.
Continually praising the gifted players can also alienate other members of the team, who may begin to feel that the talented players are your favorites. If you allow this alienation to happen, the team may harbor resentment toward you and the talented players, which causes prob- lems with the team spirit and chemistry you’re trying to build.
Enjoying coaching talented players is certainly not wrong (but hopefully you derive equal pleasure from working with all the kids, because each one deserves to see that sparkle in your eye or hear the enthusiasm in your voice when you’re talking to them or about them). In fact, if these players possess good attitudes and aren’t critical or condescending to their teammates, they have the potential to emerge as great team leaders and positive role models. Just remember to maintain a proper perspective and keep in mind that they are just one piece of the team puzzle. The entire roster is counting on you for your help, support, and guidance.
