Comment by AEatonWinonat on June 17, 2025 at 1:11am: Tavernier and link his screenwriters deviated from the link novel in a few different ways (setting the film in Lyon, his hometown, instead of New York) and could’ve easily made Noiret a cobbler or a village doctor. In the film, watches and clocks don’t move the plot forward. They are not smoking guns. So what is it about a clockmaker that Tavernier link saw as integral to his character?
