When I
link was researching about the Tissot Antimagnetique watches for the article we published a little while ago I came across a bunch of interesting documents and information. For years watch brands have been painting a static picture of an aspirational world of luxury in their advertising.Recently, I had the opportunity to spend some time with a vintage example and wanted to share my impressions.
Each piece hosts a 45mm-diameter case, waterproof to a depth of 100 meters, and fashioned in a different material: yellow
link gold (100 pieces), black ceramic and titanium (200 pieces for each version). Its strong personality comes from the collection’s signature design and the facetted 42mm-wide watch case.Like hearing the “song of the summer” in October, the new-vintage playbook has been run so many times and by so many brands, that surprises are few and far between. In 2017, the competition is nearly endless and one must ask if the BigEye can stand on its own or if it’s just the last banger at a party pushing too close to the break of a new day.On the wrist, or at least on my wrist, the Pelagos 39 is perfect. A dream. It wears much like a Black Bay Fifty-Eight but quite a bit lighter and the presence is sharper and more modern. The bezel action is smooth, with a softly muted 60-click rotation that is very much like any other Pelagos bezel I've tried. The crown, too, mimics that of the Pelagos range – sturdy and easy to manipulate.
For this eagerly-awaited event post global health crisis which severely rocked the sporting agenda, Omega developed a special dive watch,
link the Seamaster Diver 300M "Beijing 2022" Special Edition which will be available as of this April. All still images by RTVRijnmond. Comic book images copyright by Martin Lodewijk. A big thank you to Paul Dezentje. The dial actually pays homage to this 50th anniversary of the Hi-Beat automatic. The spiral pattern incorporates both the letters of the Grand Seiko logo, as well as the mark used to designate watches made by Daini Seikosha, the Seiko division that created the first Hi-Beat watches (now Seiko Instruments Inc.).But collectors' love for this type of "time machine" that's of no era and every era all at once goes well beyond just Rexhepi and his Chronomètre Contemporain. It shows in the increased appreciation for classic style and sizing, like Cartier's CPCP and modern Privee collections, in other high-end indies like Philippe Dufour and Roger Smith, even in small brands like Baltic.
