Every 5 years, Omega introduces a tribute Limited Edition Speedmaster Professional for the original 'Moonwatch' link that landed on the Moon 21 July 1969, on the wrist of Buzz Aldrin.This is a solar-powered module offering Multi Band 6 radio-controlled timekeeping, with additional Bluetooth connectivity to the wearer's smartphone for automatic setting of the time and its many different functions.First off, these new Club models are 37mm, a new size for the collection (and, in my opinion, the best size yet). They're still super slim at 9.27mm and case still features the rounded bezel and case that nicely balance the arched lugs. The dials are classic Club, with even numbered Arabic numerals, sub-seconds at six o'clock, and luminescent hands.The stylized triangles at 6, 9, and 12 (as well as a piece of one at 3 o'clock), and dauphine-style hands all harken back to the original model. The dial text, however, features the 20 bar (200m) water resistance marking, and the Seiko Prospex logo, both modern additions. The Automatic wordmark, in contrast, is displayed in a retro script typeface. There's a real marriage of old and new In all, Seiko oIn all, Seiko offers three dial options to choose from: Grey, cream, and the signature Alpinist green. Each variant has markers and hands which are colored in what looks like a faux-patina-shaded application of Seiko's propriety Lumibrite material. The watches also feature a curved sapphire crystal. Unlike the inner-bezel variants, which clock in at 39.5mm in diameter, the new models are downsized to 39mm.


As you can see, the dial features a single chronograph hand and a pusher integrated into the link crown to start, stop, and reset it.My favorite is the one in sage green, which matches the daytime portion of the 24-hour bezel.With a list price of $4,300, this is usually the point where I find a list of competition for the watch in question, but really, what is there? Push-button jumping GMTs are not common, and the 690 and its layout make this an entirely Oris consideration. Then add in the 36.5mm sizing. Is the Holstein Edition 2022 a screaming deal? No, but your cash does get you a distinctly idiosyncratic experience in watches, which I would argue is indeed uncommon at this price point.I had the chance to interview Scurfield for my podcast a while back and came away very impressed by not only his taste and passion for watches but also the specificity of what he wanted to do with Scurfa – make accessible dive watches that can actually stand up to his line of work.
