Why Jasmine Tea Deserves a Permanent Spot in Your Cupboard

It seems that jasmine tea has a way of calming down a room simply from the scent that it emits. But it is not just a case of drinking perfumed tea. When one understands the process behind this, one will come to appreciate why it has been popular for so long.

What Jasmine Tea Actually Is

Jasmine tea is not another variety of tea plant nor a mixture of syrups which are poured over tea leaves. Jasmine tea is green, white, or black tea that has been placed close to the freshly harvested jasmine blossoms at night time in order to absorb its fragrance. What is really surprising for most of us is that the petals are removed before the packaging.

Quality jasmine tea requires patience in preparation. The cheap one doesn’t use the layering method but simply sprays jasmine scent on the tea leaves, which you can easily notice from the first sip. In addition, there is a different fragrance from the authentic one that isn’t artificial.

Why People Keep Coming Back to It

It is not just the fragrance and the aroma in jasmine tea but the mild sweet taste that comes in without adding any sugar or milk when making the tea, which tea tasters love the most. It is ideal for you in those mornings when you want to have something light and refreshing other than your regular cup of coffee. But guess what? You can enjoy this refreshment in the afternoon or in the evening too.

Some reasons for keeping a box of it handy include:

  • Complements light food since its flavor does not dominate the taste of anything else
  • Simply by its smell, one could ease the tension of a hectic day
  • Lower in caffeine content than other strong black teas
  • Has a versatile consumption method – it can be drunk hot or cold, thus it is seasonally relevant

It does not require any additions to taste good

Brewing It the Right Way

Most people spoil their jasmine tea without knowing that they do so by using too hot water. The boiling water ends up burning the leaves, bringing out the bitter taste, which ends up masking the floral flavor you want.

The ideal temperature for brewing should be around 80 - 85 °C. The recommended brewing time should not exceed two to three minutes because any further steeping will not enhance its quality but rather make it bitter.

A Small Ritual Worth Keeping

That is because there is a reason why jasmine tea is frequently found in people’s lives when they need something peaceful – be it a lazy Sunday morning or the end of a hard-working day. There is no need to think too much and create a fancy ritual or discuss brewing devices. All you need is some hot water, time, and an aroma that will bring peace.

But if you have never tasted jasmine tea before, it is a good idea to check out our portal Shanaya Spices. Even though we provide Indian food spices and export jasmine tea, just a small teaspoon would be enough to bring in the pure aroma and the incredible taste.
