"Helping The World DISCOVER THE WAY of LOVE!"
Hello. My mom has an older Brother sewing machine that she's had for years, and she lost the manual during a move. Now she can't remember how to thread the bobbin and adjust the tension, and she's getting frustrated. I'm not a sewing person at all, so I'm trying to help her from another state. Is there any reliable site where I can find a manual for an old sewing machine model? She's in her seventies and really loves sewing, so it'd mean a lot to get her going again.

Sweet of you to help her out from a distance. Sewing machine manuals are actually pretty easy to find if you know the model number, it's usually on a sticker on the back or bottom. I found one for my wife's old Brother on ManualMachine https://manualmachine.com/ - they've got tens of thousands of Brother documents, sewing machines included. The threading diagrams in the original manual are way clearer than random YouTube videos, since every model threads a bit differently. You can download the PDF and email it to your mom, or even print the bobbin page for her. One tip: if the tension still looks off after threading correctly, it's often lint under the bobbin case, so a quick clean with a small brush helps.
