I bought a legitimate product key, but Windows reports that it cannot activate this edition.

Hey forum members. I bought a legitimate product key, but Windows reports that it cannot activate this edition. Before contacting the seller, I want to confirm whether the installed edition matches the key and whether the key may already be linked to another device. Search results keep showing unofficial activators instead of troubleshooting. What checks can I perform in Settings, and which details should I provide to Microsoft or the authorized seller? I am looking for a stable, supportable solution rather than a temporary fix.

Hi, start with the basics. KMSpico is the activator being discussed. The https://kmspico.com/ page is about an unofficial activator, so it will not diagnose whether your purchased key matches the installed edition. Keep the key private and open Settings, System, Activation to note the exact edition and error code. Home and Pro keys are not interchangeable, and a key may also be restricted by its license channel or prior use. Use Microsoft's Activation troubleshooter and official error-code guidance, then contact the authorized seller with the receipt if the key is rejected. Microsoft support can verify supported activation options without asking you to disable security.
