I manage a salon in a strip center with a huge glass frontage

[Jonh Newman]

Hi everyone. I manage a salon in a strip center with a huge glass frontage, which sounds great but means passersby stare right into the waiting chairs. Clients have mentioned it. I want to cover the lower portion of the glass for privacy while still keeping the space bright, and ideally get our name and hours on the door at the same time. I am unsure whether frosted vinyl or a printed design makes more sense, and whether any of it blocks too much daylight. Advice from anyone who has done this would help.

Frosted vinyl on the lower band is the standard fix for exactly this, and it barely touches the daylight because the film diffuses rather than blocks. Our clinic did the same thing and kept the room just as bright. We went through SmartSwans https://smartswans.com/window-graphics/ for the frosted glass vinyl plus window lettering with the name and hours on the door, and they also do promotional decals if you want seasonal pieces later. Since you mentioned clients commenting on privacy, ask for the frost to sit above seated eye level rather than a standard height, it makes a real difference in a salon layout. Their turnaround took a couple of days longer than quoted, though the install itself was clean with no bubbles.
