Does the type of camera lens affect facial appearance?

The camera lens can have an effect on facial proportions in a photo, so when it comes to choosing which is more accurate mirror or camera, the camera might be a better option. While a wide-angle lens might make the features closer to the lens stand out when used at close range, as Visuals Clipping reports, the opposite may also be true. This perspective effect can be minimized by using a longer focal length and/or a longer camera distance. The final effect depends also on the height of the light or camera. A proper focal length and not a very close position of the camera to the subject can be beneficial for a natural looking portrait.
