Chinese telecoms giant Huawei Technologies Co for huawei access network has won security clearance to produce telecoms equipment in India, paving the way in which for it being the first major Chinese brand to deliver locally made products for starters of the world's biggest markets for cellphones.
The green light through the Ministry of Home Affairs, confirmed by a state yesterday, comes 19 months after Huawei first requested for a manufacturing licence, amid wrangling over national security concerns. It also marks a tremendous boost for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's “Make in India” campaign.
Huawei declined to disclose its international plans with the phone. But the company's Honor brand is striving for being a bigger name around the global marketplace.
Products within the Honor name seem to be available in 74 markets, along with the brand is preparing to type in the U.S.
As for that Honor 7i, the product runs Android 5.1 and is included with some higher-end specs Huawei MA5680T, including a 1080p 5.2-inch screen. Inside is often a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor that utilizes eight-cores, as well as the phone can have 2GB or 3GB of RAM.
