"Helping The World DISCOVER THE WAY of LOVE!"
Patriotic holidays are a time to celebrate American pride, and some of the most popular ones include the Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Presidents Day. These events are perfect for gathering with loved ones to share food, watch fireworks, and spend quality time together. One of my favorite parts of these holidays is the festive decor, which brings the spirit of celebration into the home. Although I don’t get to spend as much time with family as I’d like, I cherish these occasions when we can come together and celebrate.
If you’re like me and love decorating for patriotic holidays, creating a DIY centerpiece is a fun and easy way to add a personal touch to your table decor. Today, I’ll walk you through how to make a beautiful and affordable patriotic centerpiece using items from Dollar Tree. It’s an easy project that will brighten up your celebrations with a splash of red, white, and blue!
Before we dive into the process, here’s what you’ll need to get started:
Now that you have all your supplies, let’s get started on making this vibrant and festive centerpiece!
The first step is to create your mesh bundles. Begin by cutting a 6-inch piece of red decorative mesh. Roll it tightly, and use a clamp to hold it in place. Repeat the same process with the white mesh, then open the clamp and place the white mesh at a slight angle over the red. Close the clamp again. Now, do the same with the blue mesh, positioning it in the opposite direction of the white one.
Next, take a pipe cleaner that matches one of your mesh colors and remove the clamp. Hold the mesh pieces together with your fingers and bend the pipe cleaner in half around the center of the bundle. Twist it tightly about three times to secure the bundle. After securing, fluff the mesh by pulling it in the opposite direction of the pipe cleaner. Repeat this process until you have enough bundles—about 30 in total since each roll of mesh is 5 yards long.
Now that your mesh bundles are ready, it’s time to attach them to the wreath form. Take your 8-inch wreath form and use three pipe cleaners to mark the dividers on the form. These pipe cleaners will later be used to attach ribbons.
Start by taking one of your mesh bundles and tying it to the inner ring of the wreath form using the pipe cleaner. Continue attaching bundles until you have about 10 per section, for a total of 30 bundles on the wreath form. Once all the bundles are attached, spread them out and fluff them up to give the wreath a full, vibrant look.
Now comes the fun part—adding ribbons! You’ll need three different types of 2.5-inch wide ribbons that coordinate with your patriotic color scheme. Cut three 10-inch pieces of each ribbon. If possible, use wired ribbon, as it’s easier to shape and bend. Stack the ribbons on top of one another, with the prettiest ribbon on top.
To create a stylish cut, fold the ribbons in half lengthwise and cut the open ends at an angle, creating an inverted "V." Find the center point of the stacked ribbons by folding them in half and gathering them at the middle. Attach the ribbons to the wreath form using the pipe cleaner, twisting it to secure them in place. Trim any excess pipe cleaner and arrange the ribbons to give them a flared, festive appearance.
At this point, your wreath already looks great, but if you’d like to take it a step further, you can add a few finishing touches. Place a white foam disc in the center of the wreath to add height to the centerpiece. Then, put a clear 7-inch vase on top of the foam disc and fill it with vase fillers.
To complete the look, you can place a battery-operated candle inside the vase, creating a cozy and patriotic vibe for your table. This simple addition will elevate the ambiance during your celebration.
This DIY Dollar Tree Patriotic Centerpiece is an easy and affordable project that will make your holiday celebrations extra special. Whether you're hosting a Memorial Day barbecue or enjoying a Fourth of July fireworks show, this centerpiece will bring a festive touch to your table. Plus, it’s a great way to get creative and make something that’s uniquely yours.
