Parade of Homes 2014 brings latest in homebuilding and remodeling to Clay

It's a good sign, said Mary Thompson, executive officer at the Home Builders Pandora Charms Sale and Remodelers of Central New York, which organizes the annual parade. The event will feature 12 homes from 12 builders, up from eight a year ago.

"I think the builders are ready," Thompson said. "They know there's pent up demand for houses after the downturn of the economy. They just want to showcase their products."

Thompson said a number of the houses this year feature televisions that can be hidden out of sight when not in use. Several of the properties also have murals on walls and doors.

"Those are both very popular," she said.

The houses highlight the latest and best in pandora murano glass beads 100% genuine home design and construction. It's always a great place to get ideas for remodeling, too, Thompson said.

Five of the 12 homes are sold. The prices range from $358,000 pandora charms sterling silver to $575,000. The average price is about $428,000.

Some of this year's highlights:

Miller Homes' model has four bedrooms, each with a walk in closet, a whole home audio system and a study 14k gold charms pandora compatible with floor to ceiling bookcases and a coffered ceiling.

Martin Custom Homes' Skyler Rose model is more than 3,000 square feet. It has a four by six shower, first floor exercise room with a concrete floor, billiard room, elevated dog wash station, covered patio and a study with French doors.

Sciuga's parade house has a first floor master suite with double vanities, a custom spa shower and California closets. The home also has a custom, walk in pantry, butler's pantry and a two story foyer.

The event's Chefs Night Pandora Sale is set for June 9. Local restaurants including Basta Italiano, Daniella's Steak House and Laci's Tapas will host tastings in the houses' kitchens.

A new feature, Build Local, Buy Local Night, will run June 13. The parade is partnering with the buy local group Syracuse First on the night, which will highlight local businesses.
