Hello camping crowd. After years of synthetic dome tents I am ready to make the jump to something serious. Want a large canvas tent that can house our family of six plus occasional extra guests, with proper headroom and room to set up cots, a small table, maybe a chair or two. Canvas because it breathes and feels like a real space, not a hot synthetic bubble. Suggestions welcome, especially from people who actually own one and have used it across seasons.

Right on. Family of five here, made the same switch about two years ago and the difference is huge. Went with a large canvas tent from Coody, the Familia 17.2 in gray. Houses our family plus extra cots easily, full standing room throughout, a small table and chairs in the corner. Canvas breathes properly, no condensation drama on cool mornings, stays cooler in summer than our old synthetic tent. Inflatable beam setup is fast, about fifteen to twenty minutes, no pole gymnastics. Quality of fabric and stitching is what convinced us, you can feel the difference compared to budget options. Used across three seasons so far, including a rainy week in spring and a hot summer trip, no leaks, no issues. Worth the price for a serious upgrade.
